The Overhaul & Fit Service covers the labor required when a firearm must be fully disassembled and properly reassembled for part installation, fitting, or refinishing services.
This service is commonly required when customers send in grips, triggers, or internal components that need professional installation or fitting. It is also required when a build is sent in for coating or refinishing services that require a complete teardown.
This is not a simple parts installation. It is an armorer-level disassembly and reassembly service intended to ensure proper fit, function, and reliability.
What This Service Covers
- Complete disassembly and reassembly of the build
- Fitting and installation of customer-provided grips, triggers, or internal components
- Proper function and safety check after reassembly
- Required teardown and reassembly for coating or refinishing services
Replacement parts and components are not included unless purchased separately.
Optional Services
Series 80 or Series 70 Bypass
Select this option when a Series 80/70 build requires conversion to bypass the factory firing-pin safety system.
Blend Grip Safety to Frame Radius
Some aftermarket grips require the grip safety to be blended to properly match the frame and grip radius. Select this option if grip-safety blending is required for your build.
Please note that blending will remove the existing finish from the affected area of the grip safety. A refinishing option should be selected unless the grip safety is already included with a separate Small Parts Coating Package.
Trigger Jobs
A Trigger Job is not included with the Overhaul & Fit Service. If you would like the trigger system professionally tuned, please add the separate Trigger Job Service to your order.
Compatibility
Available for 1911- and 2011-style builds only.
What to Send
Depending on the requested work, we may require:
- The complete build; or
- The complete lower/frame assembly
Please include:
- A copy of your driver’s license
- A note containing your order number, contact information, and requested work
Turnaround Time
Typical turnaround time is approximately three to five weeks. Coating or refinishing services may extend the overall turnaround time.

If you order a product from DSC, we will stand by our product and correct/fix an issue if it may arise. Please note, no returns are accepted on custom barrel services/products or used drop-in barrels. Approved returns on new, unused, non-defective products may be subject to a 10% restocking fee.
Return shipping may be required for projects involving complete firearms rather than individual parts to ensure proper insurance coverage during the return shipping process.
DSC Drop In Barrels
DSC barrels are designed for drop-in installation, in conjunction with factory counterparts such as factory slide stop and recoil - we continuously strive to improve the quality of our drop-in barrels as each style and variant is custom-made, hand fitted to shop models, and coated per order.
Turnaround times are estimated to be approximately 5-7 weeks after the initial purchase, though they are subject to change depending on the situation. *Stainless variants may ship sooner, depending on the order.
**In the unlikely event that you experience any issues with installing your barrel, we offer free custom fitting.
